What a fantastic trip. Everything from the moment we booked till we arrived back at Gatwick was perfect. Flights were spot on. When we arrived at the hotel in Barcelona, the tickets for the match were there waiting for us. We were able to check in right away and go to our room which was great so we could unpack and go and explore the city. On matchday it was perfect. Going into Camp Nou for the first time was an experience in itself. A great atmosphere and what a game. 6 goals, a red card and a penalty and to get to see arguably the greatest player in the world was such a treat. It was such a great way to experience a football match and football breaks were excellent every step of the way. Barcelona was a great city too. We will certainly be using them again for our next trip away.
Tip: stay at the Expo Hotel. It's a great location walking distance from Camp Nou and the main areas of Barcelona. The staff were excellent.
Very good package - no hassle whatsoever. Arelingus flight out more comfortable than Ryan air flight back. But I assume the Ryanair flight was arranged to give us more time. Hotel perfectly located to make the Tour of the ground straighforward and the match itself. Close to the underground which made the visits to centre of Barcelona easy. The one minus - I did not make a fuss because I enjoyed the trip so much : the hotel did not clean our room and did not change our towels.
Tip: Spend time in the city - Park Guell etc, gothic quarter - good vibe in the city.
We had a very good week-end and everything was well organised. The only disappointment was the match tickets. It is not possible to select actual seats or even a particular area. The only option is a price range and each range covers a large part of the stadium. So on booking we had no idea where we would be sitting. I went for the top price tickets in the hope of good seats. However, we finished up with seats low down, level with the penalty spot. Not what I consider were good seats and definitely not what I would have chosen. I am likely to have another football break, but will investigate other options to see if it’s possible to have a greater say in the seats I’m allocated.
My rating would have been excellent for the whole trip if it wasn't for the fact my daughters phone was taken from her pocket Having said that the atmosphere in the stadium was brilliant and the seat were fantastic only 7 back from the pitch. The couple of queries I had were answered promptly and advice given. Madrid is a beautiful city and I would highly recommend visiting. If your a football fan I would certainly book through football break. Yes I'm sure you could do the trip cheaper but would you get the seats we did with hassle free effort. I would recommend the stadium tour.
Tip: my only advice is be totally street wise my daughter wanted to see the footballer get off their bus but so did 1/2 the stadium. Very busy, so if you do want to do this make sure you get to the stadium in good time otherwise you'll get caught up in the crowd and this is where my daughters phone was taken. It could have happened in any busy city in any busy crowd. The sad thing for us is that it contained all the stadiums tour photos. :-(
Really good holiday. The hotel was central and it was great booking it as a whole package, you don't have to worry about doing anything else. You also get the option to pay in stages and will receive email reminders. Football breaks will contact you a few weeks before your trip with all your details and explaining what you need to do. Once we had arrived at our hotel the football tickets were ready to collect from reception. The match itself was fantastic, I upgraded the seats to cat 2 and we were situated behind the goal first tier, amazing view. The atmosphere in the stadium was great with the local supporters, no queuing at all apart from the tube back to the hotel but that was expected (wasn't even that bad). Real Madrid won and my boyfriend loved his birthday surprise, he would love to go back one day!
Tip: Stadium tour is interesting with lots to do and see, would recommend that. We loved the zoo in Madrid, it had loads of animals and was a lovely day out. You should also visit Circulo de bellas artes it is a bar which fantastic views of the city, it is really modern and cool with a range of drinks.
